Need help with CMS.

Hi all,

need to vent a little about CMS.

i have been paying via collect and pay since 2019 (my fault I missed some payments before this) I have two boys ages 20 (20 yesterday) and 18.

Since it’s been collect and pay i obviously have never missed a payment.  Twice this year I have asked for it to be changed to direct pay and both were refused. Ok, that’s fine.

This morning I received a text message from CMS saying they have reviewed my case and my payment will now be £751.91 instead of paying £521 which was set in my review last April. How can it jump over £200 when I have had a child taken of my case??  I did ring them and the agent couldn’t answer this except saying my wages must have changed(no changes since my last review). He did say he would make note and pass it on.  My online account also says I don’t have any payments due now until January 2025. Again he couldn’t answer why.  Also I have a query regarding arrears which I asked him. So CMS set what I pay each month and then collect it so how can I be getting into arrears?  Last year at one point I was £200 instead credit and now as of today I am £1350 in arrears. Again he couldn’t answer this and told me to write in a letter.

I honestly don’t know how they come to their decisions.

Does anyone have any insight?

thanks in advice.

hi, I think you need to call again and ask to speak to a case worker, and for them to look into these issues.
