Hi,
My partners daughter is 15 and moved in with us before Xmas as the relationship between her and her mum deteriorated. Originally it was just to give them space. However my step daughter decided that she wanted to live with us. We gave it a while to ensure this is what she wanted. My partner contacted the CMS to change her main carer. However my step daughters mum has said that she still lives with her and is still receiving money from my partner and child benefit. My partner has made a claim for child benefit but as of yet we dont know how that is going to go.How do we prove that she lives with us when her mum is lying. The CMS have already rejected the claim once and my partner has appealed the decision but as we still don't have any proof I cant see it making a difference.
Hi,
I suggest you chase up HMRC/child benefit office to get child benefit transferred. Once that's sorted then CMS should close case without disputes.
