[Solved] Move to CMS from CSA

Hi,

I'm new to the forum.

I wanted to ask about the CMS scheme I have just been moved to, I have a number of questions and am looking for advice from anybody who has been through this already.

The new amount I have been told I have to pay is nearly double what I have currently been paying for the last 5 years. Just as a note, I have never missed a payment. I have read about how CMS telephone staff do not co-operate and do not consider certain situations. I have also read that I can ask for details of the calculation and to see all information they hold in relation to my case, but will this lead to any positive outcome for me?

Personally I think that the CMS has it wrong. My ex went straight to the CMS after the CSA case stopped. I think that resident parents should be forced to try and go through a Family based arrangement process (similar to that of MIAM and Mediation requirements prior to court) before they are allowed to go to the CMS. I would not have protested to continuing the previous payments directly, but as usual the resident parent has full power to do whatever they want, and the non-resident parent is left to constantly defend themselves and fight for a fair standard of living.

I am so frustrated with the way non-resident parents are treated, but what can be done about it?

I look forward to any thoughts, and thanks.

Dom

I would certainly ask for the calculation, but have you also tried the CMS calculator? That will give you some idea of what you should be paying, assuming no arrears.
