Hi

I looked after my two girls average 3.5 day per week including 1 night every second week

Every week
Monday 15:00 - 21:00
Wednesday 15:00 - 21:00
Plus Every second week
from Saturday 09:00 to Sunday 21:00

My weekly income is £500

I pay agreed maintenance amount of £250 per month

I went through Gov calculator and there is only mention about average nights per week

I just wonder if they take into considerations day care also. I want to be sure I pay right amount.

Hello Unknow999

Child maintenance is calculated based on your gross taxable income. This is any income before tax and national insurance is deducted, but after any pension contributions you make.

If you are following the Child Maintenance Service’s (the Government’s statutory maintenance service’s) guidelines, they usually only take into account any overnight contact your two children have with you, not contact you have through the day.

The Online calculator on the Child Maintenance Options website, http://www.cmoptions.org, can provide you with an estimation of what you may be expected to pay along the Government’s guidelines. You can also find out how the Child Maintenance Service calculate child maintenance in their "How we work out child maintenance" guide. The link is https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/325219/how-we-work-out-child-maintenance.pdf.

For a more personalised response, you may wish to contact Child Maintenance Options directly at http://www.cmoptions.org.

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) have a website, 'Sorting out Separation'. It aims to make it much easier for separating and separated parents (and childless couples) to find the support they need, when and where they need it, and encourages them to collaborate on a range of issues. The link is https://www.sortingoutseparation.org.uk/.

Regards

William
