[Solved] Maintenance payments for non-resident parent

Hi. I am mid divorce and have 1 son. He currently stays with me 3 nights a week for 3 weeks then 4 nights on the 4th week. I am struggling financially and wondered if I could ask my ex for maintenance payments based on the above? She earns nearly 4 times what I do and lives very comfortably in our old house. Any help gratefully received

Hi

I'm afraid that the only way you are going to be able to get this is if your ex agrees to pay you. Otherwise, you have your son for 13 days out of 28 days, or 170 days per year. This means that, on the CSA maintenance rules, you would pay 15% of your income, reduce by 3/7ths based on the amount he stays with you, so about 8.6% of your takehome pay.
