[Solved] Maintenance and Widow's Pension

Hi,

I'm not sure if anyone else has experience of this. I've been using the CSA online calculator to try and work out what my payment should be after being asked for more money by my ex-wife.

Since we split I have re-married and was widowed last year. As a result I get a monthly widow's pension payment. In using the online calculator it asks if I am in receipt of a widow's pension and when I say yes it calculates my weekly payment as £7, without asking if i am in employment. I am in fulltime employment and currently pay significantly more than this. There is no option for me to enter details of both. Does the pension cause a drop in payment or is it just a weak system that does not recognise the possibility of working and being in receipt of a pension?

Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

We were in a similar situation. I work and receive a war disablement pension. I rang to query it and they said if you work to enter no into the receiving any of those benefits. The 7pw is only if your in receipt of those benefits and not in employment unfortunately

Hello Newham

The Online calculators available are designed to provide an estimate of the amount of maintenance deemed reasonable to pay or receive. They do not take every set of circumstances into account. You can find detailed information about how the Child Maintenance Service work out payments and what they take into account here, https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/325219/how-we-work-out-child-maintenance.pdf

If you would like to receive information about the different ways that maintenance payments can be set up, you can contact Child Maintenance Options directly, http://www.cmoptions.org

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) have a web application, ‘Sorting out separation’. It aims to make it much easier for separating and separated parents (and childless couples) to find the support they need, when and where they need it, and encourages them to collaborate on a range of issues. The link is http://www.dad.info/divorce-and-separation/sorting-out-separation

Regards

William
