[Solved] Letter from csa

I've received a letter today from the CSA out of the blue dating back to 1996 -2003,saying I owe them £11,000. I have never dealt with them and was all done between me and my ex, initially at the beginning she contacted them, but I paid direct to her and she said at the time that she had closed the case, I am not on speaking terms with her now and am confused as to why I have had this letter... can anybody help?

Hi There,
.
CSA are in the process of closing all of their cases at the moment, so they are looking into all open cases that they will have.
.
There was a post on here a while ago where it was thought that the case had been closed however it had just been put on hold

.
I would start off by asking for some proof and a break down of what they say you owe and why.
.
If you paid through a bank transfer you should be able to prove that you had paid.

Hi GTTS, thanks for a quick reply, this was 21 yrs ago and I've been told you can only get bank statements for seven years, ill send a letter of to them tmw asking them, I'm just worried that they'll put an order on my wages now.

I think they would have to be able to prove that you owe it, if you can prove that you have paid constantly as far back as the statements go then hopefully you would be ok.
.
Have you called and spoken to anyone there?

My partner paid from her acc to my ex's acc, I stopped it when the child reached 18 which was six years ago, after reading forums today people are saying you can only get statements for seven years backdated, also I'm afraid to speak to them after reading on forums that csa/csm give conflicting answers and it's best to write.

Hi,
.
I would call and inform them and inform them that a letter is being sent so it's on record and then send the letter recorded delivery, and call again the day it should arrive to confirm that they have recieved it.

Just to update you, I spoke to csa, they said they where investigating accounts that are not closed, she was really helpful, she said my ex has to call and let them know that csa was paid, spoke to my daughter who spoke to my ex, she said my ex had received three of these letters over the years and each time she has called and told them maintenance had been paid, she is going to call again and tell them, so thankfully this is an admin error, just wanted to let you know and to thank you for your support.
