Is there a point where CMS cases close?

Hi all, I posted here over a year ago about my situation with the CMS, they have been incorrectly chasing me for arrears for about 2-3 years now. I have gone round in circles with CMS and nothing works - they ignore the info I send them on proof of payments and either I hear nothing or get a random letter saying they’ve increased my payments again. The arrears relate to payments I’ve made direct to my ex that they don’t seem to want to acknowledge.

I am pretty much ignoring them now because I cannot make any traction at all to get the case resolved. Is there a point whereby they will have to close the case? As in - does it get to 5 years or so and they can’t pursue it any more?

Maybe wishful thinking but i would like to get to a point where this is behind me.

CMS essentially accuse me of not paying for my kids for 5 years, I send them dates and amounts of all payments I made and also sent everything they ask for like P60 but they never resolve it, just keep increasing the amount they say I need to pay.

thanks for reading!

hi,

I think they would only close a case once child has left full-time education or your ex agrees to close the case. I would suggest you put complaints in if they are making wrong assessments.

recommend you join this FB group for paying parents, lot of experienced members there: https://www.facebook.com/groups/239699060076601

make sure to answer their registration questions when joining.
