This probably isn't the best advice to give but I've decided I am no longer dealing with these mugs.
I have seen my son since the day I split up with my ex, the first love letter I got from the CSA was to say I owed 3 grand I laughed and put it to the side.
4 years on I think my arrears currently stand at around 8k. Now I've given them about 4 grand when they've been able to take it straight from my wages.
I was going to start paying through direct debit to the sum of 800 a month for one child but then I thought why should I pay that plus the 20% collection feee!!!
I've decided enough is enough every letter they send me will be shredded I'm not bother d about I've done all I can to try and get access she's got 3 kids with 3 dads and all have no contact and pay csa she should be locked up for fraud!
The only thing that gets me paranoid about not paying is I'm a hgv driver and they can take you license can't they? I'd love to then try I'd go on a rampage.
F the CSA and all is corrupt BS!!!!!
Hi There,
.
I'm not sure whether they can take your licence, not sure they have that power and to be fair it would go against what they are trying to do which is collect money from your earnings, if they stop you from working, then you won't have any income for them to collect.
.
What they do have the power to do is collect money directly from your wage and I can see that this is something they would do if you just ignore them.
.
Whether you see your child or not you are still liable to support them, child contact and child maintenance are two different things and shouldn't be mixed up.
.
Have you been through court to try and get access?
.
GTTS
The CSA are able to resort to confiscating your licence or putting you in jail. They only resort to this in cases where the non-resident parent is deliberately trying to avoid paying maintenance, so it really is down to you as to whether to cooperate and start to pay off the arrears. Whilst, as GTTS says, it's counterintuitive to stop you earning if you need your licence to earn a living, if you are refusing to pay, then they don't have much to lose by confiscating your licence.
As GTTS pointed out, there is still a liability to maintain you child irrespective of contact, and that would need to be addressed through different means.
