[Solved] I work and receive pip

I work full time and am starting to claim personal independence payments (pip).

Are both incomes taken into account when working out cm payments or just my salary.

Any advice please.

Hi there

I've tried to find information about this, but have come up blank, hopefully out CMO adviser will be able to answer your question.

Have you tried to use the CMS calculator to find out? It might allow you to input the information, including your PIP allowance and give an amount.

Best of luck

Hello G1927

Child maintenance payments are usually calculated using the total gross income of the paying parent. Any of your income that you are paying Income Tax on, should be included in the calculation. Child Maintenance Options is an information service that can help you with details about all your options for setting up a new maintenance arrangement and also how to maintain an existing family-based arrangement.

They do have all the information available for you to view on their website at http://www.cmoptions.org and also in their leaflet entitled Information for parents living apart from their child.

If you do already have a statutory arrangement in place with the Child Maintenance Service and you have a change in your income, it is your responsibility to inform them and they may recalculate your payments if necessary. You should be able to find their contact details on any correspondence they have sent you. They also have a leaflet which you can view by using the following link which explains in more detail how they calculate their maintenance payments, https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/325219/how-we-work-out-child-maintenance.pdf.

You may also be interested to know the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) have a website, 'Sorting out Separation'. It aims to make it much easier for separating and separated parents (and childless couples) to find the support they need, when and where they need it, and encourages them to collaborate on a range of issues. The link is http://www.sortingoutseparation.org.uk/

For more information and for a more personalised service, you may wish to visit the Child Maintenance Options website yourself.

Regards

William
