Hi,

I currently give my child's mother an amount each month. Just wondered what is a reasonable amount. I work full time and earn 20k and sometimes get bonus'.

Thanks

Hi There,

As with my post on your other topic, you can agree privetly or go through CMS/CSA, private is better if you can agree on an amount, if you search CSA calculator in Google if you input some details of earnings it will tell you what they would award, it's a rough guide but pretty close.

Hello daddyoyo

It sounds as though you have a family-based arrangement in place. This is an agreement between parents without the involvement of the Government or legal system. With this type of arrangement, there are no set rules to follow, it can include anything that you both agree to.

However, if you would like to use the Child Maintenance Service’s rules as guidance for your agreement, there is a maintenance calculator on the Child Maintenance Options website, http://www.cmoptions.org. This will give you an indication of the amount that the Government would consider reasonable for you to pay.

If you would like any further information about family-based arrangements or the other options available, you can contact Child Maintenance Options directly.

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) have a web application, ‘Sorting out separation’. It aims to make it much easier for separating and separated parents (and childless couples) to find the support they need, when and where they need it, and encourages them to collaborate on a range of issues. The link is http://www.dad.info/divorce-and-separation/sorting-out-separation

Regards

William
