Hi All,
I have recently split form the my kids mother and she has put in a claim to child maintenance. Today was the first day that I had deductions made to my salary £400 a fortnight £800 pound a month for three kids. This seems excessive and will leave me with very little to live off. Every where I look it says for three plus kids they can deduct up to 16% however this is more like 40% of my Salary?
Any help and advice with this matter will be appreciated.
Thanks
Msalam
Hi there
That does sound excessive! Do they say you are in arrears, this might be the reason for it.
Ask them for a breakdown of their calculation in writing, so that you can see how they've arrived at such an amount. If you're unhappy you can ask them to look at it again, and then make an appeal.
If you still are t satisfied you can go and see your Mp and ask for their help.
Best of luck
