Hi,
Currently I have been paying the mother of my 2 kids through bank transfer each week since we split up.
She has since decided to stop letting me see my kids, and is convinced she will end up with more money by going through CSA. I pay her currently £110 weekly currently but she is convinced she will get more (I have no issue paying her this but she has stopped me seeing my kids for no reason and is convinced she will get more).
My question is how is child maintenance calculated? I am a contractor who is paid weekly through an umbrella company, I claim expenses weekly (mileage). Example If my total gross pay is £810 once my expenses have been added(before tax) my total gross for tax is £391. But i will still take home roughly £720 net. Which figure will the csa go by, my gross for tax, total gross pay or my actual net pay that I receive in my bank.
Thankyou all for your help, sorry if it's a bit of a long winded read.
hi,
hmm i know that with people that are permanent employees, their gross income is used to calculate maintenance payments. for self-employed/company directors with limited companies, net income is used, after expenses deducted etc. have a chat with CMS and find out what they would class you as.
check out CMS calculator https://www.gov.uk/calculate-child-maintenance
