Hi
I have just found out that I have twin sons! They are now 25 and I was wondering if CSA could chase me for historic payments? I know this sounds a bit mean, but I didn't know I had twin sons and the Mother left the country when they were under a year old. I have another family now with primary school age children and this would be financially ruinous for me at the moment if the CSA could chase for historic payments. They want a DNA parentage check to make sure I am their Father.
I was in a loose relationship with the Mother when I was 21 for 6 months.
Thanks
Hi There,
As far as I know you wouldn't be liable for payments back dated unless the mother filed a case with the CSA, any claim that was made now would be too late, CSA can only consider claims from the date a case is rasied and can't back date.
So as long as the mother didn't start a case years ago and the CSA just haven't been able to find you, I wouldn't have thought you would have to pay back dated payments.
Are you planning on being in touch with your boys
GTTS
If they are after a DNA check, then I presume a case has been opened at some point, so I'd find out when this happened and why you weren't contact before. Once you have this information, I'd go and see your MP asap to get a complaint raised.
