Hi everyone, I hope someone can give me some advice as to my next steps as I feel a little lost . I split from my partner of 18 years in march, we are still sharing the property although everything has gone downhill since. She had applied for child maintenance and been awarded £260 a month for our 3 children. I am still paying all the bills and covering her mortgage payments, she is in receipt of universal credit, child's benefit and now has a part time job that requires no child care. I spend every evening with my children in our living room I buy them food, but she buys the bulk off there food. We share every space in the house save the bedrooms as we have our own, how can she get this award ?
hi,
by award, are you referring to child maintenance? if she is primary carer then she would receive child maintenance. But I find it strange that they gave it as your still living together. did you speak to child maintenance about this situation?
@bill337 I've got to ring them Monday, I just don't understand how it can be awarded when she's basically living here for free, I'm being forced to pay her half of the bills by her refusing to pay. I spend every evening with the children I buy food for them separately I just don't give her the money to pay for it, we share every room in the house. Ludicrous!
