[Solved] Help needed with CMS payments

Hi all,

I am having huge issues with the CMS. They have said I have a large amount of arrears and must make these payments. I am 100% sure I have ZERO arrears because I have always paid the correct amount.

This Jan just gone I received a letter saying I must lower my payments by around £55 a month. Then when I got the updated scheduel in April it said that I owed £165 which was the amount they told me to NOT pay. Regardless of them telling me to not pay this amount I continued to pay what is correct.

After another month I got a letter than said I owed the £165 PLUS another full month. I called them to complain on the 15/5 and was told I would receive a full financial breakdown of the arrears in 2 weeks. 3 laters later I call back as got nothing and was told no it takes 4 weeks. Then after 5 I get told 6, and now I am told 8 weeks (it has now been nearly 9 weeks). And still I have heard nothing.

I called a month ago on a Thursday and said I was worried about the arrears and that I would not pay ANY arrears until they could explain where they have come from as I am sure I do not owe anything. I was told not to worry and my case will not be moving onto collect and pay.
Then on the Friday I came home from work and had 2 letters. One said my case was moving to collect and pay and I had 14 days to dispute. One said I had 7 days or there would be further action to retrieve payments.
I called the CMS then and made the payment that I am SURE I do not owe.

Since then I have spoken to multiple people who tell me they are sorry, I've been fobbed off and not to worry they are dealing with the case now. They look at it and so OK so I need to get some financial assistance on this, I will call you back within 2 days... and then nothing is ever heard again.

What can I do?

sounds very annoying. it took them over 2 months to work out how much i have to pay. then they making me make 2 months of back-dated payments.

all you can do is ring them and annoy them. they must have a complaints procedure.

It's been almost that long for me. All the while telling me I owe money I do not owe.

I have called countless times, and everyone says something different and then they say I will receive a full breakdown which never comes.

I have emailed in several complaints which it says will be answered within 48hrs, which always go ignored.

You could ask your MP for help... although in these febrile political times, they may not be as attentive to their constituents as usual... worth a try though.
