Hi everyone,
Just joined and in urgent need of any advise support available.

I have just split with my partner of 5 years. We have a son who will be 4 in October. I am looking to move out ASAP.
The easiest option and cheapest would be to move in with a friend or friends however starting to be more complicated.

With regard living on my own I am going to struggle with affording rent and bills (income is 18k+)
I am getting very depressed knowing I will not have a lot / if any money to spend on my little boy when I have him.

Does anyone know how I can get additional help / benefits. Been told I cannot get Housing benefit, I get 25% off CTax and she is applying for the child benefit so I get nothing,

Is this correct????

Many thanks for any responses.

Hi There,

I can't be 100% sure but from as much as I can remember what you have listed is all that's available, shocking I know, when you think that a portion of your wage will go to your ex for child support.

What I would do though is see if you can discuss with your ex the options of payments rather than going through the CSA/CMS, I would try and do this through mediation as then you will have a 3rd part present to try and help reach a compromise.

Also take a look at this link about building a plan to put your child first during and after the break up.
