My son is 19 next month and I've not been allowed to see him in 13yrs as his mum moved away and poisoned him about me. I have been paying maintenance thru' the csa and they just sent me a revised plan saying that I now need to pay £900 per month. Is it right that payments should stop at 19 after he's done 2 yrs at college? We can't afford this payment, we will need to sell up and move.
Morning Oliver and welcome to the forum
I have moved your post to our Child Maintenance section where it should get more views and replies.
Here is a link to when payments should end;
https://www.gov.uk/when-child-maintenance-payments-stop
You will see from the link, you would need to know if your son is still in education and what type to assess your liability.
It does seem a very high amount, it could be your ex is possibly claiming there are arrears to be paid.
Your local CAB office is worth contacting as is your local MP if you need further assistance.
Good luck and let us know if we are able to offer any further assistance.
How long does the plan say payments go on for? Also, as Yoda says, does it mention arrears, and if so, do they look correct? If so, you can ask for the arrears to be paid over 24 months - the CSA will resist this, but stick to your guns as it's in their regulations somewhere.
Hi Oliver
In case you're wondering where your other post has disappeared to I have deleted it....it's not a good idea to have two duplicate posts running simultaneously, as the responses can get fragmented.
Best of luck
