work pay my fuel cost our factory moves but pay me through my wages which works out at £50 take home of fuel but csa are using this as part of my wages and are working my payments out including this
My question is are they allowed to do this
Thank Paul
Hi
I believe they are allowed to do this. Can you ask your employer to give you a fuel card instead so it never comes through your payslip? The only problem may be that it will be classed as a taxable perk, so the CSA may still get this info directly from HMRC, and it will still be included.
My understanding is that if it's a taxable income, then it can be taken in to account.
From March, I will be receiving a car allowance which is intended to enable me to buy a car, and use it for business purposes. However, I will need to inform my ex of the changes, and recalculate the payments.
It seems bizarre that they pay you via your wages. It must cost your company more, as they will need to take in to account the taxes to work out what you receive.
I'd do what actd recommends, and ask if you can receive the money in another form. It's worth noting a fuel card will have implications on your income tax (it does for me, at least).
