A bit of a strange one here for anyone that may have some insight and a bit of a 1st world problem ,I understand.
I earn a significant amount of money working in the US for a US company paid into a US bank account. I also earn a decent amount as self employed in the U.K. and pay appropriate UK taxes on that income. As a US citizen and due to the amount of time I spend in the US, that income is not subject to U.K. taxation.
It is my understanding that the CMS onky Has authority to calculate maintenance based on U.K. taxable earnings.
Does anyone have any insight ?
I think it's likely that we have a reciprocal agreement with the States, called a REMO I think, in which case they may be able to use a broader calculation taking your US salary into account.
