I'm confused as I pay maintenance through the CSA (my ex's idea), but someone has told me today that as she has a new partner I need not pay so much if at all. is that correct as I cant see how that works on the online calculator.
Peter
Hi peter,
Unfortunately that isn't correct, you pay a percentage of your wage in CSA, this is for your child/children's living expenses, what your ex earns or who she lives with doesn't come into the calculation I'm afraid.
The only factors that will reduce what you pay are how many nights your child/children stay with you (52 nights plus gets a reduction) or if you are living with a new partner and her children (then a reduction is made for the children in your house) there are other exceptions like debt and travel, but not for who lives with the ex.
Hope this helps.

If only
I think.......and this is my cynical side showing, that if that was the case you would never find out the ex was living with a new partner.
GTTS
Yes they would all be single forever 😀
Hi my chips
Thank you for your post. I am William the Child Maintenance Options consultant. We are unable to comment on your Child Support Agency (CSA) case as we are a separate organisation and do not have access to your case information. However, I can provide some information that may help answer your query.
To reflect what the other members have stated, under the statutory rules, the receiving parent or their new partner or spouse’s income is not taken into account when working out child maintenance. For further guidance, you may wish to contact the CSA directly to discuss your query. You can find their contact details listed on any letters that you may have received, or by visiting Gov.uk at https://www.gov.uk/child-support-agency.
For more information on the ways to set up child maintenance, please visit our website at http://www.cmoptions.org. Alternatively, you can call us free on 0800 988 0988 between 8am and 8pm Monday to Friday or 9am and 4pm on a Saturday. We have a sorting out separation web-app that you may find useful. It offers help and support to separating and separated families. The link is: www.dad.info/divorce-and-separation/sorting-out-separation.
