Thanks for the info. Just been onto them again but I was told that the system kept kicking her out. Irritating to say the least.
Hi There,
.
It can seem sometimes that you get different stories depending on who you talk too, so keep calling back, hopefully you will get what you need.

Yes I've definitely found that to be the case. Two guys I spoke to last week were very informative and polite and really couldn't do enough. The young lady I spoke to this morning although polite, was very scripted and short. Not an ideal first point of contact in my opinion. Just received a letter agreeing to direct pay with a schedule of payments but the only thing missing is the receiving bank account details. Lets see if they call me back.
Hi There,
.
I think this is normal, my wife had letters last week with a schedule of payment for her ex, and then she recieved a letter yesterday asking for her bank details, so don't panic, as they seem to also like sending out lots of letters when one would have covvered it.

Just a quick update. Got a call back from the CMS saying that they'd requested her bank details but they hadn't heard back. Payments are due to start the week after next so I asked them what will I do if I haven't received any bank details. The reply was to just keep the money to one side! So my question is, how long can this go on for? They didn't want to commit themselves to a definite answer. For various reasons my ex will not want to share her bank details with anyone so can the CMS put any type of time limit on supplying bank details before they close a case?
I don't think lack of bank details is enough for them to close the case, though it would be worth asking. Otherwise, as they say, keep it to one side - interst rates are low at the moment, so you could always put it in premium bonds and have the chance to win a big prize without any risk 🙂
Ha ha yes and wouldn't a win be ironic? I'll try and pin them down again for an answer as I don't want to be my ex's savings account as well as being her cash machine.
I wouldn't worry too much - as long as you are putting the money aside, then you are covered for arrears if she suddenly changes her mind.
Hi all and just a quick update on this issue. Finally received the ex's bank details after the first payment was due and tried to set up a fast payment and then a standing order. It turned out that the bank details were missing a digit so I called the CMS the following day telling them this. The guy told me that there had been quite a few cases of this happening so he'd get someone to call me back which they did the following evening. The woman I spoke to said that she would give me the details over the phone which I told her was very strange as they would not do this beforehand. I then pointed out that this was not acceptable as the details may not be correct and I could make a payment to anybody. She said that she would send out the correct information and I agreed that I would make an immediate payment as soon as I received them. I asked her if I should call them to say that I'd paid but she said that there was no need to.
They arrived on Monday so I made the payment.
I get a call yesterday saying that I'd agreed to pay by 10th December which is a blatant lie as I did not have the correct bank details and that I would never agree a date if I didn't have the info.
I then get a letter to say that I've missed a payment and that I need to contact them as they've received a request to move my case to collect and pay which is what my ex wanted all along.
My ex has obviously called them to say that she's had no money even though she's had six months to give me these details, she's waited until the last minute. Then the CMS cocked up and now I'm getting the grief.
I read another post were one of the members called the CMS clowns. I've got to agree that they have got their fair share of clowns as I've spoken to quite a few of them.
On the flipside I've also spoken to a couple who do know what they are talking about however they do seem to be in the minority.
There seems to be no consequence for mothers who are awkward and CMS operators who lie.
My advice to anybody dealing with these 'clowns' is to log every time and exact details of who you spoke to and exactly what was said during the call just in case you have to request a copy of the recording of the call.
