[Solved] CSA statement after years of no contact with CSA

I received a letter about a month ago from the CSA saying that I requested a statement of payments over the years and what was outstanding, which I never did. I am not sure we're they got the finally amount from but it was a big figure which I don't even make in two years. I haven,t spoke to my daughters mother for about 10 years as I gave up trying to communicate with her. My daughter is nearly nineteen and lives on her own away from her mother, I believe she was finishing her final years at school and works part time, I say this as I haven't seen her for about 4 years up until a few days ago. I have been out of work now a couple of months now and just started receiving JSA. I have now received another letter saying that they will deduct a small amount fortnightly. I am very confused about my position now & why I am receiving this so called statement after so many years from the CSA. I really thought her mother stopped applying for CSA support especially as her/our daughter moved out from her home.

Unfortunately, unless the mother closed the case, it keeps running and accruing arrears, and they would base it on your last known income. I suspect that the CSA are trying to clear up old cases as they move to the new CMS. I'd give the CSA a call but unfortunately, they may well be within the existing rules. I'd go and see your MP and get them to speak to the CSA.
