[Solved] CSA Payments - Will my ex be notified...

Hi all,

I looking for some help/advice as I have searched the web far and wide but cannot seem to find the answers I need.

Currently I am paying child maintenance through the CSA for a child I had back in 2003 with an ex partner. The relationship between myself and child's partner lasted less than the length of the pregnancy and as such I wasn't named on the birth certificate but did have contact with the child for the first 5 years until his mother moved away without letting me know where and am still trying to find them.

Fast forward to this year and me and my wife have just welcomed our first child together. I have notified the CSA of the birth and they have sent me some paperwork to confirm that the maintenance that I was paying for child #1 will reduce to account for the cost of now having child #2.

My question is this; will my ex be notified of me having a new baby? If so, what information will the CSA provide to her? I am assuming that she will be notified of the reduction in the amount she receives but will she be told the name, DOB, [censored] of my new child and will she have access to my address details?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi There,

From my experience, (i.e. my wifes ex had a baby with his new wife) The letter she recieved just said what the new calculation was there were no details of why there had been a change.

They wouldn't give any detailed information about your new child, even if asked, and I'm pretty sure they wouldn't give a reason for the reduction at all.

GTTS

I agree, but may be worth giving the CSA a call just to confirm that you don't want the details passed on.

Thanks guys, just contacted the CSA.

I've been told that they will attempt to contact my ex via phone and letter to inform her that the maintenance is reducing due to my second child but they have said it is a generic explanation and they will not/cannot pass any specific details on due to data protection.

Thank you for the help, much appreciated.
