Since my wife an i split 3 years ago i have made maintenance payments based on the Child Maintenance calculator on the CM Options website as a mutual agreement. I am now in a new relationship and am considering moving in with my new partner, However i have been told that i may have to take my new partners wage into consideration and increase my maintenance payment due to the houshold income increasing. Surely this cannot be correct. Any advice is welcomed?
Hi there and welcome 🙂
If you take a look at the top of the Finance section you will see a sticky called "How to work out CSA payments". If you click on the link you will be directed to a pdf of the CSA leaflet that will explain what you pay, how it is calculated and what deductions you may be entitled to. What you have been told could well be correct, but you'll find the answers in the leaflet I'm sure.
Oops sorry! :} ....its called "How does CSA calculate payments"
The calculator should show it, but you are correct, it is only your income that is taken into consideration, not that of your ex, though any tax credits will be, or if your new partner is employed by you, in which case, it might come under diversion of income.
