[Solved] CSA & Mileage Rates...

Hi all,

I'm after some advice required WRT CSA mileage rates....

I've asked the CSA for a variation in the child maintenance I pay based on the mileage I do in the car as I do *all* of the pick-ups and drop-offs (My ex has refused to do any of the journeys and has refused to contribute towards petrol costs).

After 9 weeks(!) the CSA called to say that based on their calculations my costs were £7.80 (below their £10 limit) whereas I had worked them out @ £12.60.

It turns out that they use a flat mileage rate of 16.4p per mile!! Looking at the AA & RAC web sites they suggest a mileage rate of 23.4p per mile.

When I asked more about the rate (where did it come from, what was it based on, when was it last reviewed etc) I was told, "that is the rate".

Does anybody know what this is based on or managed to successfully contest it?

Thanks

Tony

I'm guessing it's based on this http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/cars/advisory_fuel_current.htm

As far as I was aware, the CSA expect you to pay the first £15 per week of travelling costs - has this been reduced to £10?

I agree with Kirsten I am sure its now £10 which I guess will be a great help to some dads with excessive travelling costs

Thanks for the confirmation - is it £10 per week, ie £520 per year? Just helps to know this.
