Hi everyone,
New to the site so apologies if this has been posted elsewhere, i did search. I have my 3 children living with me since I split with their mum 4 years ago, I claim the CB and tax credits, but have just found out that I have been paying £7 p/m to CSA for them and they have told me I still owe £473. I contacted them and they are going to send me a statement, but I cant have a refund because I should have informed them when I separated with their mum. It all makes no sense, why should I have to pay child maintenance if the children live with me?
Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated
Dan
Hi there
Unfortunately if you don't tell them of any changes, such as the children live with you, they will not adjust the amount and to be fair if they didn't know why would they? You can try appealing the decision and if that doesn't work go and see your MP and ask for their help.
If the children live with you, you can claim maintenance from their mother... This might help.
All the best
