Hi Folks , I have recently found out that I have overpaid child maintenance payments to my ex wife , total overpaid is £16.890 , the csa did a investigation after my new wife and I sent them letters complaining about how they handle things with my case , I only found out I had been paying when I shouldn't have when I got my MP involved , they did a investigation which took months , and came back with they take part of the blame for not investigating when I asked them to and offered me £75.00 compensation , they also told me because I paid direct to my ex wife , nothing they can do about it , although they kept forcing me to pay on her behalf , with the usual threats of we will arrest your wages ect , can anyone offer advise on this

long story but cut short my ex wife passed away , my daughter took out a new claim for her brother who supposedly was going to collage he is now 18 and I refused to pay so the DWP have took out a court order and are taking money from my employer every month , he dropped out of collage , which was no surprise , they have failed again to investigate the new claim but still taking money from my employer ,, can I take steps to recover my £16,890 over payments

Hi

I think you need to get in touch with your local MP or CAB and they can probably help you move forward with this. They can also refer you to the ombudsman if you so wish
