Hi all, I co parent with my ex and I think I may have been overpaying CSA. I will have my kids for 182 overnight stays this year (a mix of full weekends/holidays and during term time from approx 5.45pm though to school run next morning. In terms of CSA calculations is there a difference between a full/partial day with overnight stay and an evening collection/am drop off? If not then I have been overpaying for years, I just want to get the definition right as .gov website just states "an overnight stay" .
Any help advice appreciated
Andy
Hi Andy
As far as I'm aware, it has to be an overnight stay but I'm not that knowledgeable on these matters.
You could try giving Child Maintenance Options a call for clarification.
Hopefully someone with more in depth knowledge might be along.
I have never seen a specific definition of an overnight stay, but I would say that if a child is with you and goes to bed and sleep before midnight, and wakes up after midnight, with a reasonable amount of sleep between the two, I can't see that there would be an argument against it being an overnight stay.
Thanks All
