Hi. I have just had a phone call from the CSA saying I owe them money from 2002. Background in brief: My daughter is 18 in July. The CSA case for her closed in Sept 2012 because she moved out of her home from her mum. She does not live with me.
At first they asked me from £78 arrears owing now this has gone up to £2,500 from what they say a suspended payment back in 2002. I have always paid my way for all of my daughters life.
The payment they refer to was a over assessment back in 1998-2001 which was rectified and bought my balance to zero then made normal regular payment. CSA now have told me they are sending a payment order in the post and must be paid. What can I do?
I'm currently Unemployed Ex RAF serviceman made redundant in 2012 and have debts of my own. I live with my wife and step daughter aged 8. I thought I would write to you first before engaging a solicitor. Many Thanks in advance. Steve Follows.
Find all your proof for the over payments and that the put you a owing zero to them….then contact your Local MP and have them contact the CSA…you’ll be up against it if you take them on, on your own….they will say they’re right and you’re wrong and you have to pay….your MP will be at least able to get them to speed things up for you.

Dear Jeremy Lefroy MP
I have a very real and concerning issue which is effecting my and my families life at present with the Child Support Agency.
I hope you can intervene and help as I am at the end of all hope with trust in our local and national authority justice. I will take this matter to court but hope it starts to end with your involvement.
I have all paperwork and transaction history available at request.
My concern in broad text:
CSA case closed 'yes' then CSA say I owe £2500 from 11-14 years ago, 'what'?
I have just had a phone call from the CSA saying I owe them money from 1998-2002? Gob smacked !
Background in brief: My daughter is 18 in July. The CSA case for her closed in Sept 2012 because she moved out of her home from her mum. She does not live with me and had the letter 'CSA case closed subject to any arrears or credit. OK then, I worked out they actually Owe me, BUT.
In Oct 2012, At first they asked me from £78 arrears owing. NOW March 2013 this has gone up to over £2,500-£3000 from what they say a suspended back payment back in 1998-2002.
I have always paid my way for my daughter, all of her life and I always will do. I never missed a payment (proof can be obtained) with the CSA and has paid her more in extra bank payments for support etc to the sum of a £700 since case closed in Sept 2012.
I was made redundant from the RAF MOD 11th Nov 12 and now find myself claiming JSA.
The CSA payment they refer to was a CSA over assessment back in 1998-2002. This was payments they were asking for of £101 per week and my salary was around £96-£200 per week averaging out for 1998-2002 period going through military training and paid minor rank pay.
My calculations make this about a 58% deduction in my salary on average, at this period of time. I was unhappy with this but knew I was supporting my daughter and felt her upbringing was more important than my living welfare and domestic arrangements. This has cost me the most, my relationship with my daughter 'Chloe' due to zero funds for contact (I'm sure Mrs Thatcher would of been proud).
Conversations with the CSA at this time (2002) were made and my account was rectified and bought my balance to zero then made normal regular payments even though still high at the time of £283.00 per month at this time and no reference of 'account sussespend' was mentioned. The account was written off due to CSA over assessment errors. At any time to myself it was made as an error on behalf of the CSA for over estimation was made.
CSA now have told me they are sending a 'payment order' of arrears in the post and MUST be paid. What can I do? Legal people I need help.
I'm currently ‘Unemployed’ Ex RAF (NCO) serviceman, made redundant in 2012 and have debts of my own. I live with my wife and step daughter aged 8.
Your advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated or if you do not or can not take this case please can you refer my to someone who might.
Present Time 15/03/2013: Now I find myself, Redundant, Unemployed, No job No money, apart from JSA (Job Seekers Allowance) and now have an illegal act by the CSA to worry about.
I have never bowed down to bullies and never will 'whether it be in 'Iraq or Afghanistan' and certainly not this so called CSA and hope this does not cost me more than I bargained for?, because I will take legal proceedings and I will stand up for my rights.
I sincerely hope you can help for the right reasons.
Kind Regards
Mr Steve Follows
