Hi and it's my first post
Need some advice please my ex wife has contacted the csa and asked for my assets to be reviewed. I have a share in my mothers house after my father died so she thinks she is entitled to this. Can my mothers house who lives there and I have no control over and would not sell anyway be classed as an assett? If so what can I do?
Any help is appreciated
Dave
I assume she has applied for a variation? This is when your lifestyle isn't consistant with your wages
The CSA won't be interested in your share in your mothers house as she still lives there
Thank you Huxley
Yes variation. Also the 8% is daylight robbery. Added to your income. Nuts
Thanks again
Hi DaveF
Thank you for your post. You mentioned that your ex-wife recently made an application to the Child Support Agency (CSA). If the application was made after 25 November 2013, your case will be managed by the Child Maintenance Service.
We are unable to comment on CSA or Child Maintenance Service, case-specific enquiries as we are a separate organisation and do not have access to your case information. However, you can find more information on how both organisations calculate child maintenance on Gov.uk at https://www.gov.uk/how-child-maintenance-is-worked-out/overview. You may also wish to contact the respective organisation that is managing your case, for further clarification. You can find their contact details on any letters or welcome packs that you have received, or for the CSA, via Gov.uk at https://www.gov.uk/child-support-agency.
For more information on the ways to set up child maintenance, please visit our website at http://www.cmoptions.org. Alternatively, you can call us free on 0800 988 0988 between 8am and 8pm Monday to Friday or 9am and 4pm on a Saturday. We have a sorting out separation web-app that you may find useful. It offers help and support to separating and separated families. The link is: www.dad.info/divorce-and-separation/sorting-out-separation.

The only think I'm not sure of is that the CSA do look at assets of £65k or over. Is your share in your mothers house worth more than this? If so, do you have a mortgage on your own property? Again if so, you could possibly take an equivalent mortgage on your mothers house and pay off your own mortgage with that money, that would reduce your equity in your mothers property and the CSA do not take into account the property you live in however much it's worth - you have the same mortgage, so that's not costing you any more than now.
