[Solved] CSA arrears and new baby

Hi

Sorry if this has already been covered 100 times but I have a question.

Basically my husband is paying CSA for a child from previous marriage. He was unemployed for a while and despite telling the CSA regularly they have now decided he has to pay arrears for that period according to his current wages so he is paying 40% of his wages monthly. It is crippling us but don't want to fight it as we love his daughter and her mum is devil woman but a good mum and we want the child to have the money (even though she has a new partner who earns what we do put together)

Currently paying approx £350 from £900 a month salary

The question is I have recently found out I am pregnant and worried as I don't know how we will afford it. We have been married for 3 years and are very excited. I know his monthly payments will reduce when baby comes but what about his arrear payments? We don't mind paying the arrears but need to pay less per month and pay over a little longer.. Will these payments be affected?

Thanks

The CSA don't generally give a [censored] (to be blunt) but it's worth asking them if you can spread the arrears over a longer period, there's no harm in asking. However, if the arrears shouldn't be due because your partner told them about a change in circumstances, then I'd fight them anyway - I'd say it's one to go to your MP about and ask him to raise a complaint with the CSA.
