Hi everyone,
I have a friend who pays CSA payments for her daughter to her ex husband, her daughter (who turned 19 last week) left college in June this year and started an apprenticeship on June 24th. She is still paying through deductions from earnings and has been told by her daughter that her dad doesn't receive child benefit any longer. My friend has contacted the CSA and advised them of the situation and they told her that her ex needs to contact them and tell them that he no longer receives CB as they don't liaise with the child benefit agency.
He has said that he has told the CSA but she has had another payment deducted from her wages. I'm sure iv'e read somewhere that if a child finishes full time education then starts work the CB will stop a week after her start date so surely the CSA payments should stop then as well, if this is the case and her ex hasn't informed the CSA is he claiming payments fraudulently?
I think this is a great forum with some very useful info, i'm a dad myself paying CSA and having known my friend for a lot of years and her ex it isn't just dads who get a rough deal from the CSA as she has been fobbed and spoken to like a piece of s__t to the point where I had to take over the call.
Any help would greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Best advice is to contact her MP asap and ask them to take it up with the CSA.
If the ex husband has received a payment he knows he shouldn't have had, then he could return it to her directly until the payments stop being taken. Might be worth the ex writing a letter to the CSA and giving a copy to your friend.
