Hi Guys
I will try to make this short, Basically I have 3 children by two women my two eldest are with my first wife lets call them M and K
The third is by an ex girlfriend and younger than the other two, I'll call her Z,
K is now 22yrs old and i no longer pay CSA for him but I did for years.......Last August CSA wrote to inform me that my CSA payments were to be £275 per month for M & Z,I disputed this and rightly or wrongly refused to pay until this was sorted as M had left school, wasnt going to college and had a full time job ( even though her mother wouldnt tell the CSA that).....Last week I had a letter from the CSA to inform me that M's case had now been closed.
I then received a DOE letter now saying I have to now pay £750 per month.........I cant afford this and cant understand how the payments can go from £275 per month for two children up to £750 for one child in the space of 5 months......this will break me !!
Hi There,
I would contact them and ask them for a break down of the charges they have.
The chances are it is back payment for the months that you didn't pay, I understand why you stopped paying but it isn't advisable to not pay as it will always result in back payments being added.
Have they advised how long the amount will be set at £750 a month
GTTS
They are going to call me tomorrow, I only didnt pay for 5 months, Even one month paying £750 will cripple me ( financially speaking )
I will see what they say tomorrow, I also have the problem of a suspected adoption of Z, 7 yrs ago Z's mum asked if her new husband could adopt Z and I agreed, last year I asked Z in a message if her new dad ( as she calls him ) has adopted her and she said he is trying to, The CSA today asked if he had adopted her and Z's mum just said they were considering it.....I have no problem paying for my children's upkeep but starting to feel like the mothers personal piggy bank.
I'm even considering emigration now
If the child has been adopted, payments should have ceased at that point. I’m not sure how you could find out though.
If you’re having difficult paying and think they have the calculation wrong, but are being intransigent, you could ask your local MP for help.
As GTTS has advised, ask for a break down of their calculations in writing. In fact anything that has been discussed with them, ask for that to be put in writing too.
Best of luck today.
They are looking into the adoption (Mother has denied it )....she has also told then she has tried unsuccessfully to contact me regarding direct pay, which she hasnt and i have informed them of that, but now im having to pay by DOE which incurs a 20% charge.
They have agreed to reduce the amount of the arrears per month and look at extending the payment time on gen maintenance which was originally 11 months but they reduced this to 8 months which put the monthly amount up...
The whole system is wrong and they seem to make up the rules as they go along, and they side with the mother at every stage without a care for the father and how the extortionate payments effect him, they MAKE you pay what THEY say you pay and you have zero choice, its so wrong especially on those that have never tried to get out of paying, there are so many fathers that dont pay a penny towards their children, its so very unfair.
