I have worked for 13 years went on the sick last year for 12 months and now back in work i pay maintinence for 2 children 2 different mums they took a lower amount out of my wages each month while i was on the sick, then when i returned to work my first months pay they took the usual amount and other what they said was arrears while i was on sick in total £600 out of my wages when i rang them they said i owed it and that im still in arrears of £800 which they will take out am i not allowed to be ill? I love my children but they wont even let me see them one as changed my daughters surname ive been told she can do what she wants and the other as moved away with my daughter and another bloke, into a large house and living it up, both of thee mums cheated on me, i have now found a new partner we are engaged but these payments may come between us so we can move on and start a new life, where is the justice for men?

Hi Paul and welcome

Unfortunately, it sounds as though you might not have informed them when you were sick, so the normal payments continue to become due until they are notified, and the reduction cannot be backdated to before that date.

hi actd if i get proof i was on the sick from my employers do you think they will give me back my overpaid money? it is so unfair i did not realize i had to inform them i am now in arrears with my rent because of this, i didnt claim benefits my employers put me on half pay

The CSA only normally calculate changes from the date they are notified of a change, and don't backdate. However, there's no harm in giving them a call to see if there is any way your sickness can be taken into account - for the time taken for a phone call, you have nothing to lose.
