Hi there,

my 12 year old daughter has decided she would like to live with me and her mother has agreed. As I have never made any claims in the past I would like to know what if anything I am entitled to. I am currently employed on a full time basis. My ex wife has remarried and has another child and although she does not currently work her spouse has a full time job.

Hi there and welcome πŸ™‚

You will be entitled to child benefit for your daughter, and also working family tax credits, the amount you are entitled to if any, would depend on your earnings.

You may also be entitled to Maintenance... Theres a link to Child Maintenance Options at the bottom of the page, or you could call the CSA and ask them. I think though once you have found out what you may be entitled to it might be better to discuss the options with your ex and come to an agreement between yourselves. This is called a family based agreement.

Again, I would consider holding off with the maintenance option until after your daughter is established with you and you are in receipt of child benefits etc. As the ex might change her mind if she thinks it could cost her money. I might be doing your ex an injustice though and if thats the case I apologise! πŸ™‚

Good luck with everything.
