[Solved] Cs1 maintenance question

Hi all,
Been paying csa since pre 2003, so I'm under cs1 rules.
I haven't updated csa of my salary increase for many years and do not have any contact with my ex who now has a couple more children with a separated partner.
I've always paid on time and have no problem with the arrangement however I'm considering moving house and understand I'd need to inform the csa of this. I was wondering what would most likely happen and how they would respond?
Any help much appreciated.
Thanks

Hi there

You may find that the CSA will want you to update your present circumstances and its possible if they find out your salary has increased, that they will expect you to pay arrears...I hope not but it is something to bear in mind.

Good luck

Thanks for your reply I thought that maybe the case.
One of the reasons I didn't update them was several years ago they crippled me for some arrears that suddenly had to be paid within 24 months, they were the most miserable months in my life but I paid the amounts requested.

Question- I now live with my pregnant fiancée if they were to reassess me could they hit us again with the 'old rules' and even ask her to make payments?. Slightly frightened by all this and how this could affect us.

Hi there

Unfortunately they can apply the CSA1 rules, if that includes looking at a partners income and using it in assessing the amount you pay. They are in the process of moving all cases over but they have given themselves until 2017 to complete that.

There's a link to the leaflet about how the CSA1 scheme is administered in a sticky at the top of the Child Maintenance section. The sticky is called "how does the CSA calculate payments". I seem to remember the link takes a while to load, so wait until the link turns blue before clicking on it.
