CMS vs travel cost abroad

Hi,

Happy New Year everyone.

Does anyone know if travel costs abroad are deductible from CMS payments? I have a shared live with order, my ex lives in the UK, I have a house in the EU. Our child is registered in both countries.

I'd appreciate any experience and feedback

Thanks

hi.

CMS have a scheme for special expenses, so you can ask them about it:

When a paying parent can apply for variation

If you are a paying parent you can ask for certain expenses, which reduce your gross income, to be taken into account. These are called 'special expenses' and are for:

  • the cost of keeping in regular contact with the child or children you pay child  maintenance for – for example, the cost of fuel to travel between your home and the child’s home

special expenses must be for more than £10 per week.

Thanks @Bill337

I read up on the CMS policies and decided to be extremely cautious:

"If the receiving parent disagrees or cannot be contacted then notification of the variation needs to be sent to the receiving parent by locally printing the paying parent’s variation application and including any supporting evidence."

Given I don't have to disclose my address to my X (which the court agreed to), I worry about CMS f'ing up any redaction...
