that's a good point. rule should be each parent pays for maintenance costs while child is under their care.

Hi Daddydoo

Thats because the split is 55:45 in her favour. If it was 50:50 then no maintenance would be payable by either party. If you had them 55% of the time then she would be paying you maintenance.

However I accept that if we actually work out the figures the non resident parent gets shafted. As its not like the financials reflect the exact split of custody. Ps don't think I agree with how it works etc.. im merely giving my opinion on your situation and how I see it.

Are you maximising all of your reductions with the CMS? For example are you paying into an pension and maximising the amount based on your age to reduce the amount of CMS that you pay in order to secure your own future and potentially allow the finances to reflect the custody split?

Thanks

Hi Daddyup,

the CMS take into account the pension contributions that I pay and taking the amount that the children reside with me over night

@Daddydoo did you get sorted?

Same situation I pay about £450 pm and she won't provide school uniform unless I pay half. If I provide it she won't return it so it's a right mess.

HI Guys

I am in the same situation.  I pay 734 pounds per month and have 35/65% in her favor.  I get my children alternate weeks and I paid for shoes , school clothes and trips until the financial settlement.  Child maintenance continues and she was providing PE clothes on Mondays as I only get them alternate weekends and Monday drop offs.  She now has refused to send PE clothing.  The issue is,

1. she never returns things on time

2.  PE days are Mon and Thurs and I get them alternate Mondays school drop off

3. She has suddenly decided not to send clothes without informing me

Should 734 pounds maintenance not cover clothes, how is it fair that I need to buy another 70 pounds worth of PE kit for 1 day of 14 when she gets them fro 3 days of 14 for PE?
