I have used the CMS calculator and it asked my weekly income iv put £320, I work part time 32 hrs. 2nd question was how many more kids in my house iv put 1 as it is. 3rd question was how many nights a week do the child stay, I put over 3 but (this is my other kid not the one I'm checking maintenance for) don't know if thts correct. It's coming up I should pay £10 per week tht figure seems low compared to all the horror stories iv heard. Does tht sound right??
Hello KD20
The Online Calculator on the Child Maintenance Options website can help by providing parents with an estiamted amount of maintenance that the Government consider to be a reasonable payment based on your income.
The questions below are the same as the calculator on the Child Maintenance Options website at http://www.cmoptions.org and I have added some notes which may help you carry out a more accurate calculation.
Will you be paying or receiving child maintenance payments? - Paying parent
How many children are you paying child maintenance for? Amount of children you are required to pay maintenance for
Do you get any of these benefits? - Yes/No
What is your weekly gross income? - £320
How many other children live in your household? - This is any children that live with you in your household on a day-to-day basis
On average, how many nights a year do the children stay over with you? - This is the child/children that you are paying maintenance for
If you do require any further help with your calculation you can contact Child Maintenance Options directly and they will be able to offer you a more personalised service and all their contact details can be found on their website.
You may also be interested to know the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) have a website, 'Sorting out Separation'. It aims to make it much easier for separating and separated parents (and childless couples) to find the support they need, when and where they need it, and encourages them to collaborate on a range of issues.
