I started working for myself and it didn't go that well so I didn't earn much money for about a year (my wife earns a good salary). My ex partner took me to tribunal saying that I was lying (despite an excellent track record of doing so before to the tune of over £100k over the years and despite haveing no evidence to lead her to that concusion!).
They asked me for a ton of financial information to prove otherwise, all over and above the std information they required and which I had supplied. I was bit slow to get all my business documents sorted (I am not good with paperwork) and because of this they now say I owe them £21,000!! This is more than I would have paid in any previous job I held. I went back to them and said that I now have the documentation but they said 'Too late.' Too late so just pay £21k. [censored]?
Solicitors don't want to know, the tribunal has said reapply to the CMS/CSA and someone else has said to get my MP (Michael Gove) involved. Its absolutely nuts!
Any advice very gratefully received...
I'm afraid I don't have any experience of this. I would guess your best bet would be to get your local MP on board (even if it is Michael Gove). Sorry I can't offer more detailed advice.
I can't think of much else you can do except to re-apply as they have suggested. The issue is that they often set time frames, and if you don't stick to them, then they can only work on the information or assumptions they have to hand. Hopefully, if you re-apply, you will have the correct information ready, but you really do need to give them information as quickly as possible when they ask for it.
