Hi all, I will be redundant in a few weeks and the CMS have advised when I change my income info on the online portal to also add a note to advise them of how I will be supporting myself while unemployed. I don't really understand why they need to know this or what difference it makes to them how I will manage? Have any of you had to do give them this info?

hi,

that is standard practice for them. so if your going to be out of work for several weeks/months, may be good idea to apply for Universal credit or jobseekers allowance.

or if you think you will be in new job after very short time, you can tell them you will support yourself with a bit of savings or your family will support you, if thats possible for them.

@dadmod2 thanks for your reply. Why do they need to know though, what's the difference?

@ac70 I think because they want to make sure are you still able to carry on paying maintenance or not. a fraud check.
