Hi guys very strange few weeks my old family based arrangement was £60 for my girl and never missed a single payment in 5 years and then got CMS letter nearly a week back well after exchanging a few details after ringing them up we quickly got a calculation for £59 a week!! So was paying right amount the whole time.
Get a text from CMS saying new payment 259 pm yesterday but I walk into work today and see a message saying payments now 0.70 per month till may 2022 or just pay the £8 off now.
Also how do CMS figure i owe £8.42 when direct pay schedule has not started yet and direct pay is not monitored by them
Unfortunately, CMS seem to have a habit of very thoroughly screwing up some cases. I am personally aware of a case where the father was told he had arrears of £600 - even though paying by collect and pay - and if he didn't pay immediately, then they would take him to court. He paid immediately (and was not in a good way) only for a correspondence the following day to say it was a mistake and he didn't need to pay.
I would go back to them and question them about anything you think is wrong. Also find get on the portal (and if you can't, then find out why not) and print/screenshot everything. If they make a mistake, no reason why you should pay for that, including the collect and pay charges.
The will also push the onus onto you to chase and do it within reasonable timescales.. Best thing is to contact them and get clarified..
