does anyone know is there any kind of tax relief etc available for paying child support

I work in tax in the private sector.
Sadly there is no ability whatsoever to offset any child support payments against earnings or profits for income tax purposes.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad, though I suspect not unexpected, news.
