my daughter is 18 and a half and is no longer in education because she got kicked off her course for none attendance. because they never informed the child benefit they still receive payments,
I reasently found out that she was kicked off the course but because of this new data protection I cannot find out when she was kicked out of college. their fore I cannot find out if I have overpaid child maintenance. everyone I have contacted has said they cannot help me find out. I have stopped paying child maintenance this month because I do not want to carry on paying if they are not entitled to it and I wouldn't get my money back.
csa are now saying that I have to pay and they will do an attachment of earning to collect the money.
is their any help out their for us dads? if there is where do I find it?
Hi There,
You need to pay child maintenance until they tell you to stop, you will be accrue arrears until you do and they will follow through with taking it from your wage.
Until child benefit has stopped the CSA/CMS are not able to close the case there isn't anything you can do about what has been paid since your daughter left education, as the case would still have been open and as said will remain open until the child benefit is stopped
