Hi, hoping I'm posting this correctly. My son who still lives in Republic of Ireland is 17 years of age and is serving in the Irish Navy. He is providing with all his needs living in the barracks. Do I still need to pay maintenance.
 my son who lives with his mum in the republic of ireland is 17 years old and has joined the Irish Navy. He is provided with all living needs including food and board. Do I still have to pay maintenance until his 18 birthday?
Hi there
I dont know for sure but I would be amazed if you did! As well as his board he will be on a working wage.
If he is no longer in full time education, then there should be no maintenance - however, the courts can make an order for maintenance which is binding for 12 months, after which time the CSA take priority - I am not sure what happens if the CSA can't take the case (because it wouldn't be relevant for them to do so) so your solicitor should be able to answer this. The court could also order maintenance for your wife (rather than for your children) - your solicitor is best placed to advise on the various options.
