Totally agree with actd and GTTS here. Also, if there was one set amount, what if a non resident parent earned say £16k per year in a low paid job? If you set a basic minimum in line with a minimum wage salary, it would scarcely be enough to raise a child on. So many of our children live in poverty these days, it's not right.

With regard to CMS taking the word of the resident parent in respect of overnight stays - unfortunately there are RP's that will do this, but there's a far greater occurance of NRPs trying to wriggle out of providing for their children.

We are all entitled to our own opinions on these subjects but it has to be the children's welfare that comes first. These children grow into adults and they figure out soon enough which parent has done right by them in terms of contact and finances.
