Hi

Quick question if anyone can answer

The CMS day that they can’t assess above an income of £3000 a week

Is that right I’ve also read variations can be applied for on high level incomes

Just wondered how true the statement on the CMS site was and what was the practical situation ?

Yes that's right, here's their information leaflet -

http://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/85746/how-we-work-out-child-maintenance.pdf

It states in the guidelines (page 10) that the most they can take account of is £3000. If the paying parents gross weekly income is more than that, the receiving parent can apply to the court for extra child maintenance.

For £3000 gross p.w. It is calculated at the Basic Plus rate, there's a chart that illustrates this on page 19.

Hope that helps
