Child Maintenance Backlog / Being Abroad and Coming Back

Hi All,

Thanks in advance

I'm asking regarding the following:

1) If someone has been abroad for 15 years, away from the UK.

2) Has 2 children (17 and 19) and wishes to return once BOTH are above 18.

3) Does not have a source of income abroad

4) Deductions were made from the JSA whilst individual was in the UK looking for a job

5) Doesn't talk to the mother (ex-wife) or the children and got divorced whilst in the UK

Will the individual have to pay the backlog once they are to the UK and get a job or start a business etc.?

Thanks a lot,

hi,

it is difficult to tell. CMS/your ex may have decided for case to be closed if person has been abroad and not able to get hold of them. or maybe they decided to keep case open and arrears are accruing on the account. only real way to know would be to contact CMS.
