Hi, I have looked at some recent topics about child maintenance payments when loosing job or reduced income with covid-19 and some have copy and pasted what it says on the cms site. Unfortunately this seems to make no difference to this drastically outdated and biased organisation. I need some advice. Due to covid 19 I have lost all my work. I usually get paid a total of £30,000 a year. £12,000 as paye and the rest in dividends. The help I can get from the government is purely based on my paye part of my earning as I’m self employed so I should hopefully be able to claim 80% of the £12,000 so in short my earnings each month will have dropped from £2,500 gross to £960 gross (about £750 net). I have 2 other children. I have made child maintenance aware and they said they will review. Just got a message saying my payments will remain the same. Surely they can’t force you to pay £250 a month out of a £750 a month income when I don’t have enough income to cover my bills never mind feed my other 2 children? In my opinion they are such and out dated disgusting organisation where they think all dads are bad. We split up 16 years ago and I had the kids 4 nights a week and paid her even when I didn’t work. She went to the csa 2.5 years ago for nothing more than more money and it’s mad there’s an organisation that says if you don’t let him see his daughter at all we will give you even more money. Yeah that’s really putting the child first so I haven’t had a relationship with her now for over 2.5 years all because of money. Your help on my question would be appreciated.
hi,
its odd they taking 250 out of 750. thats over 30%. i have 3 kids so they take 19%
you should make a complaint:
https://www.gov.uk/manage-child-maintenance-case/complaints-and-appeals
did you ever think about applying to court so you can see your child?
Just complained to them there and they were unbelievably rude. He couldn’t get his head around how can I be self employed but with no income. That means I have a job. It means I have a company with no work at all coming in. He said I will have to close my company and go on universal credit. So when the work does start I have no company to run it through? Said I’m looking for a reduction based on my current income. He said well there would be nothing stopping you getting a contract tomorrow. Not in my filed but that’s speculation and not facts and thought it was worked on facts. I said when I contacted them last week I have been trying to get contracts through other companies and if I manage to get anything I will let you know immediately. Unfortunately with applying to the court for contact it’s to far gone now. She will be 17 this year and been turned to much.
lol is he thick? how can you get a contract tommorrow when nobody is offering work due to the virus/lockdown? i'm self-employed. dumping it due to IR35 stuff. was fortunate enough to get a regular permanent job just before virus broke out.
if government is supporting you with income, then really they should assess on that.
check complaint link i sent you: www.gov.uk/manage-child-maintenance-case/complaints-and-appeals
if your still unhappy, there is complaints resolution team/process
or maybe you should go on universal credit. that would mean you pay maintenance of £7 a week.
He was beyond thick. He just had no intention basically if listening to the info provided and processing it. I was trying to advise my income has been severely effected and has decreased and as such I need my payments to reflect this. He was just telling me I need to sign up for universal credit then for £90 a week . Not listening to the fact I should be able to claim 80% of my £12,000 paye section. This conversation was through the complaints section. I had to pull him on how rude he was and huffing and puffing and talking over the top of me. He was a complete [censored].
